Rice Production & Consumption in July

By CnAgri2013-09-04 10:58:31 Print Rice production by medium and large mills registered 9.311 million MT in July. BOABC estimates that the nation’s total rice production was about 9.373 million MT in July. Taking into account of carryin and 141,000 MT imports, rice supply was 11.057 million MT in July.
 
Domestic rice consumption and exports added to 9.665 million MT in July.
 
Rice consumption for food use was 8.956 million MT in July, including 5.735 million MT household consumption, 3.063 million MT restaurants’ consumption and 158,000 MT the food industry’s consumption.
 
497,600 MT rice was consumed for feed production and 187,000 MT for industrial uses.
 
Of the rice consumed for food use, 37.56% were consumed by rural households, 21.78% by urban households and 31.69% by the catering industry.
 
Rice price was RMB4,007/MT in July and RMB4,099/MT in January ~ July, down 3.06% but up 0.74% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Japonica and indica prices were RMB4,515/MT and RMB3,733/MT respectively in July, up 3.04% but down 6.66% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Japonica and indica prices were RMB4,486/MT and RMB3,891/MT in January ~ July, up 1.44% and 0.34% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Rice inventory was estimated to be 1.392 million MT at the end of July.
