New Campaign Started, Inner Mongolia Likely to Break Historical Record of Sugar Production

20th September 2020 saw the official operation of beet sugar processing lines in Inner Mongolia, which drew open the curtain of the 2020/21 campaign nationwide. Inner Mongolia produced 725,000 tons sugar in total during 2019/20 campaign, 75,000 tons more YoY. Along with the operation of new processing lines, sugar production in the province is expected to break the historical record in 2020/21.
 
Data shows that there are 2.3 million mu of sugar beets in the province in 2020, of which paper-tube transplanted 727,000 mu and directly sown 1.573 million mu; the total area is 364,000 mu more than in 2019. Lots of places in the province were hammered by low temperature, frost, strong winds or drought, yet the extensive rainfall from the end of June to the beginning of July eased the drought in most of the beet farming areas, except for Ergun that was still dry, whereas Shengtong Sugar is in Ergun. Sugar production shall continue to grow in Inner Mongolia in 2020/21, to reach 900,000 tons, and the province shall be steady in the third position of sugar production in China.
