China’s raw milk production has kept strong momentum thanks to a rebound of dairy cattle inventory, enhanced per cow yield and surging milk price.
According to the monitoring by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, monthly figures of raw milk output from raw milk purchase stations for the first eight months of 2020 were at the highest level since 2015.
The sum of raw milk price indexes in the first eight months is 9% higher than the corresponding figure last year, meaning that raw milk output for the first eight months based on milk purchase by raw milk stations in China is up by 9%, an estimated increase of 15 million tons.
(Note: According to the monitoring by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, raw milk output in 2019 totaled 20.44 million tons based on statistics of milk stations in China, an increase of about 5.5% year on year. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s raw milk output in 2019 totaled 32.01 million tons, up by 4% year on year.)
