  • On 8 Aug 2020, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced to extend the duty exemptions for only 266 Chinese products under 190 HS codes that were scheduled to expire on August 7, 2020. The 266 individual product line extensions will now expire on December 31, 2020. The remaining 727 products under 441 HS codes for which extensions were not extended are requested 25% tariff as of 7 Aug 2020. 
  • On August 6, 2020, the Department of Commerce (Commerce) announced its preliminary determination in the antidumping duty (AD) investigation of imports of wood mouldings and millwork products from China. The preliminary dumping rate of mandatory respondent Bel Trade Wood Industrial Co., Ltd. is 146.91% and the adjusted is 136.18%; Fujian Yinfeng Imp & Exp Trading Co., Ltd. and Mangrove Wood Machining Co., Ltd.’s preliminary dumping rate is 40.30% and the adjusted is 29.57%; companies receiving a separate rate show preliminary dumping rate of 79.40% and the adjusted of 68.67%; the preliminary dumping rate for other Chinese producers/exporters is 359.16% and the adjusted is 348.43%. The Commerce Department is expected to make a final determination on December 18, 2020.
  • On August 18, Ministry of Environmental Protection examined and approved the issuance of the 11th batch of restricted import quotas; the approved waste paper volume is 197,840 tons. Among them, Liansheng Paper was approved for 51,430 tons, Shanying International for 44,070 tons and Nine Dragons Paper for 25,210 tons.
