The Food Industry’s Performance in January ~ September

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the food industry’s performance was better than other industries in September.

    The food industry’s total assets valued RMB3.992 trillion in September, of which RMB2.233 trillion were liquid assets, accounting for 5.58% and 6.24% of the nation’s industrial total respectively. The industry’s debt ratio and quick ratio were 52.35% and 55.94% respectively, 6.45% less but 112% more than the nation’s industrial average respectively.

    The food industry’s employees numbered 6.649 million in September, 7.41% of the nation’s industrial total.

    The farm-product-processing industry’s assets, liquid assets and employee number accounted for 51.63%, 53.39% and 53.41% of the food industry’s total respectively.

    The food industry realized a revenue of RMB5.727 trillion from its major business and a profit of RMB353 billion in January ~ September, 8.71% and 10.02% of the nation’s industrial total respectively. The industry’s tax paid totaled RMB184.69 billion, 6.62% of the industrial total. The food industry’s tax burden was below the nation’s industrial average.

    The food industry’s profit ratio was 6.16% and the ratio of profit and tax to assets 13.47%, exceeding the nation’s industrial average by 115% and 152% respectively. High returns from food production spurred investment in the industry.

    63.45% of the food industry’s revenue from kernel business and 46.16% of the food industry’s profit came from farm-product-processing.

    The production cost of the food industry’s kernel business was RMB4.817 trillion, 8.58% of the nation’s industrial total.
