Minister Han attends Launching Ceremony of China-Chile Demonstration Farm

Minister Han Changfu and his Chilean counterpart Luis Mayo Bouchon both attended and addressed the Launching Ceremony of China-Chile Demonstration Farm on June 26, 2012. The event was held by the Ministries of both countries in San Diego, the capital of the Republic of Chile.

Minister Han stated in his speech that under the joint efforts from both sides, Chile-China Demonstration Farm in China jointly built by both countries has made substantial achievements, demonstrating not only fruits and advanced agro-technologies from Chile, but also the history and culture of Chile. He believed that the to-be built China-Chile Demonstration Farm in Chile will also not only showcase quality agricultural products and state-of-art technologies from China, but also introduce Chinese history and culture to the Chilean people. It will serve as a bond of friendship of the two peoples.

When addressing the ceremony, Mayo said that he is very pleased to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on the development of China-Chile demonstration farm and a five-year plan outlining future agricultural cooperation between China and Chile. These two documents will definitely promote the agricultural S&T development and agricultural trade between the two countries.

Mayo also stressed that China is an important trade partner of Chile, and the Chile side is eager to strengthen cooperation with China in agricultural trade, policy and information exchange as well as training through cooperation at the demonstration farms.

Also present at the Launching Ceremony were other senior officials, including President of the National Agricultural Society of Chile Patricio Crespo, Chilean Ambassador to China Luis Schmid and Vice Minister Yang Gang for the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China.
