Arysta LifeScience is pleased to announce the complete registration of CarpovirusineTM evo2 and new uses extension for its product: CarpovirusineTM 2000 on Cydia molesta (Oriental fruit moth) on apple and peach.

Carpovirusine 2000, the sustainable reference against Codling Moth and Oriental Fruit Moth

Specialty, naturally, ready to use, Carpovirusine 2000 is a granulosis virus, Mexican isolate (CpGVM)-based biological insecticide. Thanks to its dual efficiency: direct (destruction of hatchings in progress) and delayed (contamination and destruction of overwintering larvae), Carpovirusine 2000 is essential to control the Codling Moth (Cydia pomonella) and Oriental Fruit Moth (Cydia molesta).

Carpovirusine 2000 is a complete formulation containing four protective virus agents: buffer pH, anti-UV, palatable and adhesive, which gives it a particularly good resistance to leaching (45 mm) and high persistency (10-12 days regardless of sunlight).

Carpovirusine 2000 is now registered on:

• Apple (Codling Moth, Oriental fruit moth)
• Pear, quince, nashi (Codling Moth)
• Peach (Oriental fruit moth)
• Walnut (Codling Moth)

Carpovirusine evo2: diversified control through innovation

Following the discovery of first cases of resistance to CpGV-M in populations of Codling Moth in organic orchards, Arysta LifeScience, in collaboration with the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), the Research Group in Organic Agriculture (GRAB) and the Ecole des Mines of Alès, found an isolate more efficient, thanks to the financial support of the French National Research Agency. The lab study of a resistant population was used to select a viral isolate: CpGV-R5, which has a slightly different mode of action compared to the original isolate CpGV-M and that bypasses the resistance. This innovative formulation, Carpovirusine evo2 is optimized to effectively control the Codling Moth.

The various field tests carried out in France and Italy have shown that Carpovirusine evo2 is more effective than Carpovirusine 2000 on difficult populations, and equally efficient on sensitive populations. Applied on integrated fruit production and organic farming, Carpovirusine evo2 is a natural ally of sexual confusion. It is also the ideal partner for prevention and resistance management as part of programs in Integrated Fruit Production (IFP). Carpovirusine evo2 is an effective solution in case of resistance, to be used alternately with Carpovirusine 2000.
