Expanded Voluntary Recall of Mazuri Feed Products

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2012-07-11 19:59:09China Agriculture Report Print

PMI Nutrition International is expanding a voluntary recall to include three additional varieties of the Mazuri feed products listed below, due to the potential for an elevated vitamin D level in these products. Elevated vitamin D levels can be harmful to animals if fed for extended periods, and may result in lack of interest in eating, weight loss and possible joint stiffness.

The following products with specific lot numbers are being recalled, in addition to the products included in an earlier recall announced on July 3, 2012, due to analytical test results that indicate a potential for elevated levels of Vitamin D.

The products were manufactured at the Richmond, Ind., feed plant and were distributed nationwide starting April 12, 2012 through July 6, 2012. Dealers have been contacted and asked to hold these products and to notify and retrieve the product from customers. The affected product should not be used, and where applicable, be returned to the retail dealer.

Lot numbers are laser printed on the back of each paper bag, near the top. Lot numbers are formatted as follows: APR= Month / 17=Day of Month / 12 =Year / 2 =Plant Code.

Customers who purchased the product will receive a full refund. For more information on the product recall, contact your local dealer or Customer Service (1-855-863-0421, x 224) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (EDT), Monday through Friday.
