Albaugh, Inc., manufacturer, formulator and marketer of off-patent agricultural crop protection products, is pleased to announce further expansion into the Canadian market with the purchase of the AgWest Group. AgWest ULC serves 38 independent retailers in Western Canada.

"With the AgWest purchase, Albaugh gains a valuable distribution channel into the Canadian market. More importantly, it gives Western Canadian retailers access to our extensive and competitively priced line of off-patent crop protection products," said Greg Warren, Albaugh Global Commercial Director.

Although the AgWest distribution channel is a central avenue for growth, Albaugh is confident independent member retailers are also gaining new opportunities for growth. "It is our intention to provide independent retailers with growth opportunities in fertilizer, crop protection and other crop inputs", said Warren. "Independent retail choices are becoming more important in an ever-increasing competitive marketplace. Giving retailers greater buying power and access to quality off-patent products enables them to offer growers greater choices and ultimately better profit."

Albaugh, Inc., the largest privately held off-patent generic crop protection product manufacturer in the United States, will be introducing 16 off-patent products that include herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and plant growth regulators under the trademark Agri Star.

Albaugh is best described as a "fiercely independent" 100 percent privately owned company dedicated to giving retailers and producers a choice. "Access to competitively priced off-patent products is critical to the producer's ability to trim input costs," said Warren. "We will offer the Western Canadian producer access to the off-patent products they want and need at competitive prices."

Ron DeKok joins the Albaugh team as Country Manager (Canada). He brings strong experience to the table in the fertilizer and chemical industries in both the manufacturing and distribution sectors, which enhances the value opportunities for AgWest independent retailers. Ron's background also includes education in horticultural technology and business management. His dedication to producer choice and independent retail supports the core values of Albaugh, Inc.
