Barb Yates joins TSG Canada
By CnAgri2012-07-31 12:22:57 PrintTSG is pleased to announce the addition of Ms. Barb Yates. As a regulatory specialist with over 18 years of experience providing product development and registration assistance for fertilizers and supplements, agrochemicals and biopesticides, Ms. Yates will be joining TSG Canada as a Director.
As a fertilizer and supplements specialist, Ms. Yates joins TSG Canada at an important time with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) amending its fertilizer regulation. CFIA will no longer regulate fertilizers and supplements for efficacy as it focuses resources on ensuring that products are healthy and safe for humans. CFIA will require safety assessments to examine all ingredients in a fertilizer or supplements, including the active components as well as the formulants, additives and by-products that might be released into the environment as a result of a product’s use and application to the soil. Ms. Yates is actively monitoring CFIA’s fertilizer and supplements update and will be helping companies adapt to the regulatory changes when they become finalized in the near future.
Ms. Yates also has significant experience coordinating and managing pesticide product registrations, developing regulatory strategies and representing clients at PMRA. She has particular expertise in organizing and facilitating meetings with the PMRA and the BPPD at EPA, providing advice on the Fertilizers Act and Pest Control Products Act (PCPA), assessing field efficacy data and resolving data requirement issues.
Ms. Yates has a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (Agronomy) from University of Guelph and a master’s degree in Agriculture (Crop Production and Physiology) from University of Guelph. Prior to TSG, she was the Registration Manager for Loveland Products Canada Inc. and United Agri Products Canada Inc., where she provided product field development, compliance and registration assistance, as well as strategic regulatory guidance. She also has experience with organic crop production as a former inspector and a past member of the Independent Organic Inspectors Association (IOIA). In addition, Ms. Yates is a member of the Canadian Weed Science Society and Canadian Fertilizer Products Forum, and participates on CropLife Canada’s Chemistry, Science and Regulatory Committee. She joined TSG Canada on May 15, 2012 and works at its Ontario, Canada office.
