Chicken Sold at Inflated Prices on Iran Black Market
By CnAgri2012-08-07 19:50:13 PrintEconomic struggles are deepening further in Iran, as smugglers are selling vast quantities of chicken on the black market at inflated prices.
Dubbed the 'chicken crisis,' organized smugglers have been uncovered in posession of 60 tonnes of live and slaughtered poultry, which has been hidden across Iran throughout the last two weeks.
According to The Poultry Site, the discovery comes as a heated political debate continues over the increasing cost of chicken, which has risen in cost up to 80,000 rial (?.20) per kilogram - an increase of three times, since last year.
There has been a huge public outcry over the illegal selling of chicken, with farmers and traders blaming the increase of international sanctions.
