Speakers Added Days Before R-CALF Convention
By CnAgri2012-08-17 19:55:37 PrintWith just days until the Aug. 24-25 R-CALF USA Convention begins in Rapid City, S.D., the list of speakers is growing. "We are bringing in tremendous speakers to increase our knowledge and perspective on issues discussed at convention." said R-CALF USA Membership Services Coordinator Laurel Masterson.
Those in attendance will be able to listen to J. Dudley Butler explain the dire need to restore market competition. Butler is the Past Administrator of the Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA). While in office, Butler spearheaded the creation of the first United States Department of Agriculture/ Department of Justice (USDA/DOJ) task force to address corporate concentration in the livestock and poultry industries.
Another new addition to the agenda is Ken Ivory, a representative from the Utah Freedom Foundation. His focus will be on private property rights. As a current member of the Utah House of Representatives, Ivory serves on the Judiciary Committee, Public Utilities and Technology, and Subcommittee on Public Education Appropriations. Ivory has written many articles on state sovereignty, fiscal responsibility and public lands.
Additionally, two speakers with expertise in the Made in America Movement will address the attendees during a panel discussion. The panel includes Joel Joseph, Chairman of the Made in the USA Foundation and Julie Reiser Co-Founder and President of Made in the USA Certified. Joseph drafted and lobbied in Washington, D.C. for both The American Automobile Labeling Act and the Country of Origin Labeling Act. Reiser is an advocate of U.S. manufacturers, producers and service providers.
"We hope everyone able to attend takes advantage of the opportunity to hear from the above speakers as well as R-CALF USA leadership on issues facing U.S. agriculture today." R-CALF USA CEO Bill Bullard said. "The issues discussed affect all people who eat, not just those who make a living in the agriculture industry. That is why the convention is always open to the public."
In order for credentialed media to secure complimentary registration and meals, they should contact R-CALF USA Membership Services Coordinator Laurel Masterson at the phone number or e-mail address listed above no later than Aug. 17.
