PETA Reportedly Set to Invade Kansas State Fair

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, (PETA) will be heading to the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson in a few weeks as a vendor in its attempt at misleading consumers and misrepresenting agriculture as a cruel and vicious industry.

By its own admission, "PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world."

Kansas State Fair officials accepted the organization's vendor application; however, PETA was told that it had to shield graphic video footage from visitors who may pass by its booth. Anyone interested in seeing the video would have to enter the booth and make the conscience decision to do so.

In retaliation, PETA filed a free speech lawsuit against the Kansas State Fair in hopes of displaying all of its material openly and visual to everyone.

"PETA intentionally displays graphic material to get a rise out of people. The State Fair is a family event. PETA's content will likely be graphic, inappropriate, and not suitable for children." This group is not going to the Fair to provide factual information. It's promoting its own anti-meat, anti-dairy agenda with attempts to exploit the innocence of children. How ethical is that? Fair officials should be commended for their judgment to protect fair goers. The State Fair is an event that showcases agriculture. It is disturbing when animal rights groups invade our community, distort the truth, and misrepresent our industry," stated KCA Executive Director Brandy Carter.

PETA repeatedly instigates protests and boasts provocative media campaigns that dictate to others how to dress and what to eat. PETA has a history of vandalizing family farms, and the founder of the PETA, Ingrid Newkirk has described her group as "total animal liberation." PETA opposes all medical research that requires the use of animals, yet last year the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) released documents indicating that PETA killed a staggering 95 percent of the adoptable pets in its care just in 2011 alone.

KCA's Kelsey Gibson explained, "PETA utilizes misleading pictures and videos to evoke compassion towards abused animals in hopes of gaining support for its dishonest agenda. Although disheartening, these videos are falsified so that people, who know no different, will send them money in their quest for an anti-animal agriculture agenda. We cannot let PETA misguide any more unknowing consumers. It is our job, as animal agriculture advocates to make sure that its deceitful agenda is put to rest."
