The Board of Directors of the National Wheat Foundation held its third meeting this week to continue developing its vision and work plan for the educational and charitable foundation.

The Foundation's Board was restructured earlier in the year to allow for greater involvement by allied industry within the wheat chain. The governance changes were the result of a two-year strategic planning process culminating in the selection of nine new Board members, including four former NAWG presidents, a prominent wheat grower, a miller, a baker and two industry representatives.

The coard spent significant time this week discussing the role of corporate partners within the new structure, which necessitates a change in the role of the long-standing Development Committee. Development Committee members joined the Board for a portion of their discussions, which allowed for deeper input on the topic of industry alignment.

Board members also continued development of working committees and a comprehensive fundraising plan for both projects and programs and for the planned renovation of the Wheat Growers Building, the Foundation's chief asset.

Additionally, Board members reviewed new materials developed to help them reach out to a broader audience, including a new website at www.wheatfoundation.org.
