US CF Industries begins restart of Louisiana nitrogen complex

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2012-09-03 17:11:49China Agriculture Report Print  US fertilizer maker CF Industries said that it began the restart process at its nitrogen complex at Donaldsonville, Louisiana.

Illinois-based CF said the operating units at the complex sustained no significant damage from Hurricane Isaac. Isaac has since weakened to a tropical storm.

CF operates four ammonia plants at the complex that produce about 2m tonnes/year.

The company had shut down production at the complex as a precautionary measure in advance of the storm on 28 August.

The Donaldsonville facility is on the Mississippi river between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

We have no reports of any injuries to our employees, although many are still without power and some have experienced damage to their homes. Our thoughts are with those who were impacted by the storm,” said Tony Will, senior vice president of manufacturing and distribution for CF.

We are in contact with our customers and will advise them on the status of production and deliveries from the facility,” Will said.
