Canada oks BASF’s fungicide fluxapyroxad

By CnAgri2012-09-07 19:04:50 Print The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has decided to grant full registration for BASF’s fungicide fluxapyroxad (trademarked as Xemium) to control or suppress various fungal diseases in numerous crops. The proposed approvals cover sale and use of fluxapyroxad technical and some end-use products containing fluxapyroxad,  BAS 700 01F Fungicide, BAS 700 02 F Fungicide Seed Treatment, BAS 700 03 F Fungicide Seed Treatment, BAS 700 04 F Fungicide Seed Treatment, BAS 703 01 F Fungicide (the other active ingredient is pyraclostrobin) and BAS 703 02 F Fungicide (fluxapyroxad + pyraclostrobin).

Fluxapyroxad belongs to the Group 7 class of fungicides, the succinate-dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI). It inhibits succinate-dehydrogenase in complex II of fungal respiration. Fluxapyroxad inhibits spore germination, germ tube elongation, mycelial growth, and sporulation with preventative and curative properties. Fluxapyroxad has been grant full approval in EU in July this year, and Australia has also proposed the approval for this new fungicide in last month.
