Under the sponsorship of MOA, the Second China-ASEAN High Quality Fruit Promotion Event was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region during September 21-25. Guangxi Party Committee Deputy Secretary Wei Chao’an, MOA Senior Advisor (Vice-minister Level) Zhu Baocheng, and Guangxi Vice Governor Chen Liangzhang attended and addressed the opening ceremony.
Participants to the Promotion Event included over 500 government and enterprise representatives from MOA, Guangxi, Shanxi, Jiangxi, Shandong, Shaanxi and Xinjiang Provinces (Autonomous regions), as well as over 50 foreign delegates from agricultural departments and fruit businesses of ASEAN members.
The Promotion Event hosted nearly 200 exhibitors of domestic enterprises from above provinces (autonomous regions), with over 180 fruit varieties of 13 categories displayed on site. The exhibitors exchanged information and held business talks with ASEAN delegates on the latest development of fruit production, trade and distribution. The exhibition booths, bustling with crowds of domestic and oversea visitors, presented various fruit products and demonstrated outstanding achievements made by China’s major fruit production regions in fruit farming, processing and marketing. Concurrently with the Event, other side events were also held including China-ASEAN Fruit Trade Contract Signing Ceremony and China Quality Fruit Exhibition, etc.
It was reported that on the opening day, Chinese enterprises and ASEAN buyers signed 44 program contracts worth 1.02 billion Yuan. Compared to the previous event, the Second Promotion Event attracted exhibitors of 6 provinces (two more provinces than the previous event), took up an area of 450 square meters with newly established enterprise zones and ASEAN-specific booths, and invited more ASEAN buyers apart from government officials. During the Event, domestic buyers also showed sincere interests. For example, Beijing Xinfadi Agro Wholesale Market organized a delegation to Nanning specifically for the business talks. All these contributed to a remarkable increase in the amount and value of signed contracts. It is believed that the Event will further expand fruit trade between China and ASEAN members, and push forward the trade partnership in a sound and orderly way.
