Interfarm becomes new sole UK supplier for Bayer’s cereal products
By CnAgri2012-10-10 19:29:30 PrintInterfarm is the new sole UK supplier for a range of cereal products including three PGRs, Cerone, Upgrade and Strate and the cleaver herbicide Eagle. This new marketing arrangement between Interfarm UK and Bayer CropScience UK is part of an ongoing development of distribution arrangements between both companies within the UK.
John Martin, Managing Director of Interfarm, says that the company is delighted to be expanding their product range further and to be able to market these four new cereal products. “Interfarm customers are benefiting directly from our affiliation with the global company Sumitomo Chemicals through distribution arrangement such as these. It means that as a company we are an attractive distribution outlet in the UK for some larger multinationals. These four new products are in addition to Attribut (propoxycarbazone-sodium), Sencorex (metribuzin), Squire Ultra (amidosulfuron), Veto F (tebuconazole and triadimenol), Thyme (tebuconazole and spiroxamine), Warrant (fenoxaprop-p-ethyl) and Cobra (methiocarb) from the Bayer stable that we already market.”
Dr. David Stormonth, Technical Manager for Interfarm explains that the three plant growth regulators are important tools to reduce lodging in cereals, which was a very serious problem this past year. “Cerone (which contains ethepon) is usually recommended as a second spray in the PGR programme to maximise stem strength and help prevent lodging. It is recommended in winter wheat, winter barley, winter rye, triticale and spring barley following a robust T1 PGR treatment. Upgrade and Strate contain 2-chloroethylphophonic acid and chlormequat and can be used either early or late to reduce lodging in winter wheat, winter barley and spring barley. The best timing for Upgrade and Strate is at flag leaf just visible (GS 37).”
David says that Eagle (containing amidosulfuron) offers superb control of cleavers, charlock, runch, volunteer rape, shepherd’s-purse and field forget-me-not in a range of cereals as well as in linseed. “Its main focus is cleaver control as this is by far the most competitive broad-leaved weed. It can be used from the 1st February up to GS 49 in winter wheat, winter barley, winter rye, oats, triticale, spring wheat and spring barley.”
