Vice Minister Niu Dun met with Francisco Javier Mayorga Casta?eda, Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGAR) of Mexico on Oct.29, 2012.The two sides exchanged views on deepening agricultural cooperation, and signed the China-Mexico Agreement on Fisheries & Aquaculture Cooperation.

 

Niu noted that over the past years, the bilateral cooperation in agricultural sector has made significant progress. It is believed that the two countries had a strong complementarity and shared a promising cooperation prospect. Niu expressed the willingness of the Chinese side to work with Mexico and put forward the following proposals for future cooperation: first, to increase personnel exchange, in particular high-level visits; second, to carry out closer agricultural S&T communication and cooperation, and enhance innovation capacity of the two countries; third,to promote cooperation in fisheries and improve the efficiency of resource use and development; and fourth, to facilitate the bilateral collaboration in agricultural investment and trade.

 

 

 

Secretary Mayorga fully agreed on Niu's proposals,and spoke highly of the favorable conditions and broad prospects for China-Mexico cooperation. He stressed that the Mexican side has always attached great importance to this partnership,and is much willing to see a pragmatic and robust cooperation ahead in agricultural S&T, trade and fisheries, etc.
