Unique agriculture boosts Sanjiang economy

Zheng Junkang, Liuzhou mayor, led a delegation to the Sanjiang Dong autonomous county to assess its Xunjiang Peninsular Project and Poverty Alleviation and Relocation Project. Li Chuxiang, Sanjiang county Party secretary, reported on Sanjiang’s development. This year, Sanjiang has promoted characteristic agriculture, tea and bamboo cultivation, becoming a major income source for peasants. Unique ethnic culture tourism is drawing increasing numbers of tourists. In the first three quarters of 2012, the county’s GDP reached 2.14 billion yuan ($343.5 million), up 7.3 percent from 2011. Its revenue income came to 190 million yuan, a 9 percent year-on-year increase. Fixed asset investment totaled 3.63 billion yuan, up 38.8 percent from 2011. Zheng Junkang put forward opinions on Sanjiang’s future development and suggested improving infrastructure and pushing forward advantageous industries.
