According to BOABC’s data, the national production of fresh and chilled pork (excluding frozen pork and its processed products) in May increased by 8.60% month-on-month. It can be seen that China’s pig production capacity is recovering from the impact of ASF.
The details are as follows:
(1) The production of fresh and chilled pork in Jiangxi, Shanxi and Ningxia all saw a month-on-month growth of over 20% in May. To be specific, the production in Jiangxi reached 13232 tons, up 42.21% month-on-month; the figure for Shanxi was 56059 tons, a month-on-month growth of 29.27%; the production in Ningxia registered 1173 tons, increasing by 22.86% over the previous month.
(2) The month-on-month growth in the production of fresh and chilled pork was among 10%-20% in Shandong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Xinjiang and Anhui provinces, and that in Liaoning, Gangdong, Jilin, Guizhou, and other regions was among 1%~10%.
(3) The production declined in Henan, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Hunan, and other regions. In May, 2020, the production of fresh and chilled pork in Hainan dropped by 1.19% month-on-month to 215284 tons; the figure for Sichuan was 63389 million tons, down 4.32% month-on-month; the figure for Inner Mongolia registered 14184 tons, a month-on-month decline of 4.43%.
Overall, in May, China’s production of fresh and chilled pork saw a slight growth from the previous month, and the national pig production capacity was recovering.
It’s estimated that the national production of fresh and chilled pork continued to rise in June, 2020, but the aggregate output in the first half of 2020 slightly decreased over the same period of the previous year.
