Wheaten Food Production in August

Instant noodles production registered 865,000 MT in China in August, 6.8% more than the month before and 16.42% more than the same period of last year. Instant noodles production totaled 5.63 million MT in January ~ August, an increase 2.59% on the year-on-year basis. The promulgated figures showed a production increase of 20% in August and 13.3% in January ~ August, both on the year-on-year basis.

Fast-frozen wheaten and rice food production was 356,000 MT in August, 4.1% more than the month before and 27.14% more than the same period of last year. Fast-frozen wheaten and rice food production totaled 2.459 million MT in January ~ August, a growth of 4.1% on the year-on-year basis. The promulgated figures showed a production increase of 29.5% in August and 19% in January ~ August, both on the year-on-year basis.

BOABC estimates that biscuit and cake production might be 538,000 MT and 160,200 MT respectively in August. The production of wheaten food of various kinds added up to about 1.919 million MT in August and 13.033 million MT in January ~ August, up 19% and 16.1% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

It is estimated that flour consumption by wheaten food producers might be 1.229 million MT in August, 7.57% more than the month before and 17.67% more than the same period of last year. Food producers’ flour consumption was estimated to be 8.319 million MT in January ~ August, an increase of 6.7% on the year-on-year basis. Wheaten food producers’ flour consumption accounted for 11.8% of medium and large flourmills’ production in August and 10.52% of their production in January ~ August.

138,100 MT rice was consumed in August and 948,200 MT in January ~ August for rice food production, up 22.15% and 15.88% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
