1. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, hog and brood sow inventory in September increased 1.3% and 2.1% respectively over the month before and 1.5% and 4.7% respectively over the same period of last year. Brood sow inventory hit a new high in four years.

2. Shanghai has recently announced that it has brought grains, meat and vegetables into food safety tracking system.

3. Brasil Foods, a large Brazilian food producer, plans to invest $120 million in China to set up a meatpacking factory in 2014.

4. Zhengbang Group has recently kicked off in Dongying City, Shandong, a project capable of 100,000 heads of breeding-pigs and 1 million heads of commodity hogs a year.

5. Yurun Group has recently kicked off in Xunyi County, Shaanxi, a project capable of 12,000 heads of parent generation breeding-pigs and 28,000 heads of hogs a year.

6. Shuanghui Group plans to invest RMB1.83 billion in Wuyang County, Henan, to set up a broiler production base capable of 50 million birds a year. The base is capable of broiler production and slaughter, feed production and broiler distribution.

7. Shenzhen Kondarl Group has recently reached an agreement with Mengzhou City, Henan, on the construction of a 500,000 MT/year feed production project.

8. US Counti and Henan Jin’en Investment Co., Ltd. are to jointly set up in Henan Province an agricultural fund with RMB600 million investment.

9. Guiliu Poultry Co., Ltd., headquartered in Guangxi, plans to invest RMB120 million in Siyang County, Jiangsu, to set up a duck meatpacking factory.
