Raw Milk: designated monitoring results from the General Services of Animal Husbandry of MOA indicate milk price still kept at a high level during first two weeks of June in 2013. The average raw milk price of the ten main farming provinces stood at 3.49 yuan/kg, slightly up from same period of May or up 6.57% year on year. Dairy farming profit improved due to the sharper growth of raw milk price than the rally of corn and soymeal price during the first two weeks of June.

From the perspective of the global market, another record of average price was created in the world in May, 52.0 US dollars/100kg, up 47.73% year on year or slightly lower from the previous month. The drought in North America and Oceania resulted to the significant rally of raw milk price since Q2, especially there was serious drought in New Zealand. The drought affected the growth of feedstuff and the whole dairy farming sector, as a result affected raw milk supply, but the demand for dairy consumption was still prosperous, hence the milk price rose. Meanwhile the dairy farming profit level improved thanks to the faster growth of milk price than feed price.
