Farm Product Imports & Exports in July

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-09-06 14:14:57China Agriculture Report Print China’s farm product imports and exports valued $10.98 billion and $5.52 billion respectively in July, giving rise to a trade deficit of RMB5.46 billion, up 10.8%, 12.4% and 9.2% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Farm product imports accounted for 6.53% of the nation’s total import value and farm product exports 3% of the nation’s total export value in July.
 
Imports of grains, tuber crops and soybeans totaled 8.59 million MT in July, valuing $4.82 billion, up 10.6% and 16.7% respectively on the year-on-year basis, both reaching an all-time high.
 
Specifically, imports of grains, soybeans and other grains registered 800,000 MT, 7.2 million MT and 590,000 MT respectively, down 40%, up 23.3% and up 5.4% respectively on the year-on-year basis. They were brought in at $358/MT, $589/MT and $321/MT respectively, up 3%, up 2.1% but down 7.4% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Of the total imports, 519,000 MT were tapioca (477,200 MT from Thailand and 33,400 MT from Vietnam), brought in at $255/MT.
