Six large sugar warehouses were destroyed and 180,000 tons sugar was lost. The 180,000 tons of raw sugar and white sugar accounted for 10% of the monthly white sugar export quantity from Brazil. Traders began to buy and the international price hiked sharply accordingly. The New York raw sugar futures price once rose by 6% to 20.16 US cents/pound, adjusted itself later and closed at 19.50 US cents/pound, up 2.5%.From “China Fruit &Vegetable Market Monthly Report”
