Grain Imports & Exports in Aug. 2013

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2013-10-21 11:00:43China Agriculture Report Print According to the Customs, China’s grain imports and exports registered 729,200 MT and 27,534 MT respectively in Aug., 6.19% and 5.8% more than the month before respectively, 44.6% less but 66.25% more than the same period of last year respectively.
 
The imports consisted of 417,800 MT wheat, 114,000 MT rice, 10,640 MT corn and 186,700 MT barley, up 66.22%, down 52.25%, down 98.22% and down 17.86% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
The exports consisted of 1,702 MT wheat, 23,922 MT rice and 1,910 MT corn. Grain price was hindered by high domestic price.
 
Grain imports totaled 6.683 million MT in Jan. ~ Aug., a slip of 32.63% on the year-on-year basis. Specifically, wheat, rice, corn and barley imports recorded 2.123 million MT, 1.572 million MT, 1.605 million MT and 1.383 million MT respectively, down 21.07%, 4.2%, 56.92% and 25.8% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
 
Non-state-run companies have almost used up their quotas so far.
 
Processed grain product imports and export registered 28,901 MT and 42,520 MT respectively in Aug., down 3.82% but up 11.8% respectively against the month before, down 3.34% but up 4.27% respectively on the year-on-year basis. The imports consisted of 25,557 MT denatured starch, 3,230 MT flour and 113 MT starch. The exports consisted of 223,495 MT flour, 10,250 MT starch and 8,775 MT denatured starch.
 
Grain and processed grain product imports and exports equaled to 774,000 MT grains and 85,500 MT grains in Aug., down 43.21% but up 14.68% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Grain and processed grain product imports and exports registered 7.019 million MT and 930,000 MT respectively in Jan. ~ Aug., down 31.01% but up 17.21% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
