Inspection of Aquatic Products Exported to South Korea Stricter in 2014

Recently, South Korea started implementing the inspection plan of imported aquatic products in 2014 and it was stricter with China aquatic products. 10 pharmaceuticallybioactive substances were strictly monitored, including nitrofurans, crystal violet, chloramphenicol, carbon monoxide, hormones (MPA), endosulfan, sulfur dioxide, benzopyrene prometryn and malachite green. Sampling inspection rate was mostly set as 50% and 100% except that inspection of chloramphenicol in fish and crustacea was sampling and that the inspection rate of MPA in loach was 30%.

Of all these substances, inspection of malachite green and nitrofurans involved the most products. Inspection rate of malachite green in 15 fish species, such as crucian, carp, croaker and eel, was 100% and that of nitrofurans in eel, yellow croaker, catfish, loach and pond crayfish was 50% and in shrimp, 100%.
