Bayer CropScience establishes Bee Ambassador Program

When a honey bee lands on an almond flower to extract nectar, she is doing more than gathering food for her colony; she is helping feed the world. Honey bees are vital to agriculture and our food supply, which is why Bayer CropScience has established a dedicated Bee Ambassador Program to bring more awareness and knowledge about them to communities throughout the United States.

To foster an environment of collaboration, Bayer's Bee Ambassador Program will integrate key topics related to honey bee management and health with the biggest issues facing agriculture. Through the program, the Ambassadors will engage at the local level with beekeepers, farmers, researchers, government officials, educators, non-government organizations (NGOs) and the general public about the value of honey bees and the challenges they face.

Bayer strongly believes supporting bee health requires ongoing collaboration and engagement to build new relationships with stakeholders and the Ambassador Program will become an integral component of Bayer's outreach efforts.

"Our goal is to establish dialogue and to learn from others in the community," said Jim Blome, president and CEO of Bayer CropScience North America. "Together, we can work across traditional boundaries and nurture ideas into solutions."

Bayer's Bee Ambassadors will promote conversation related to topics such as the latest in bee health research; product stewardship best practices; and, the role of Bayer's newly established Bee Care Centers.
