EPA Reports 100 Million Gallons of Biodiesel Produced in August
By CnAgri2012-09-28 19:20:09 PrintThe Environmental Protection Agency announced last week that 100 million gallons of biodiesel were produced in August, bringing total production to 757 million gallons for the year.
In 2011, the biodiesel industry set a new production record of nearly 1.1 billion gallons, supporting more than 39,000 jobs across the country.
Made from an increasingly diverse mix of resources such as soybean oil, recycled cooking oil, and animal fats, biodiesel is the first and only EPA-designated Advanced Biofuel that's produced on a commercial scale across the U.S.
It is produced in nearly every state in the country and is used in existing diesel engines without modification.
