MGEX Reports Strong Month Over Month; Year Over Year Growth

The Minneapolis Grain Exchange reported that its November 2012 total volume reached 129,179 contracts traded. This is a 21 percent increase from October 2012 and a 19 percent increase from November 2011.

The group says Hard Red Spring Wheat and Apple Juice Concentrate futures contracts totaled 128,259, while options contracts totaled 920.

Electronic trading of MGEX futures and options contracts was the 18th best electronic volume month in MGEX history and the best month of the last fifteen.

Total open interest for futures and options was reported at 44,534 contracts. Of that, futures open interest totaled 42,387 contracts, while options open interest totaled 2,147 contracts.
