STAR Energy, Manson, Iowa, Monday announced an agreement to acquire the retail propane and HVAC assets of Siouxland Propane, effective Dec. 1. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"This acquisition provides the opportunity to expand one of our core business segments, and is consistent with our strategic direction," said Dave Brecher, STAR general manager.

Brecher said the acquisition expands the STAR Energy footprint into northwest Iowa and southeast South Dakota. "Although we have not serviced this geography previously, this acquisition complements our current propane business. We have a history of being a local supplier in each of our geographies; this will continue in this geography, as well," he said. "Customers will continue to receive professional, quality service as well as a dependable supply of propane."

The acquisition expands STAR's propane storage capacity and rolling stock, and provides for the acquisition of Siouxland's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) business. "These activities are supportive and complementary to the propane business and we look forward to continuing to service the HVAC needs of our new customers," Brecher said.
