Hog prices were 35.45 yuan/kg in this week, increasing 5.13% from last week

(1) On January 3, 2020, the factory price of carcass averaged 44.22 yuan/kg in 36 large and medium-sized cities, up 0.55% month-on-month. The wholesale price of pork was 50.61 yuan/kg, dwon 0.75% month-on-month. The retail price of pork averaged 56.02 yuan/kg, decreasing by 0.90% from the previous month.
 
Hog prices are 35.45 yuan/kg in this week, increasing 5.13% from last week. The highest price was 39.00 yuan/kg in Hainan, while the lowest price was 31.40 yuan/kg in Xinjiang.
 
The average weight of hogs for slaughtering is 128.51 kg/head in this week,down 1.98% from last week. 
 
Driven by New Year, pig prices rose slightly this week. Supply shortage of hogs in the market supports the increase of pig prices. In addition, with the advent of the Spring Festival, pork consumption will rise, so most farmers plan to sell hogs before the holiday and are reluctant to sell hogs now. It’s predicted that pig prices are possible to rise next week.
(2) During the past week, ratio between hog price and feed price was 19.57 and ratio between hog price and corn price was 11.55. The profit of each link of China’s Hog breeding industry in last week was as follows:
Breeding link: the gross profit of hogs from self-raising-piglet was 2508.05 RMB/head, increased 188.18 RMB/head than last week; and gross profit of hogs from others-raising-piglet was 1675.55 RMB/Head, increased 189.18 yuan/head than last week.
Slaughter link: the gross profit of slaughtering enterprises, the ones on slaughtering bought hogs but not as agents, was -297.56 RMB/Head, decreased 171.82 RMB/Head than last week.
Wholesale link of pork: the gross profit was 492.03 RMB/Head, down 47.74 RMB/Head than last week.
Retail link of pork: the gross profit was about 416.57 RMB/ Head, down 10.01 RMB/Head than last week.
