Fertilizer Price Moved up Continuously in China in the first half of 2012

Fertilizer price kept going up in China in the first half of this year, affecting fertilizer consumption as a result.

The producer’s urea price surged from RMB2,075/MT to RMB2,300/MT between January and June. Urea price averaged RMB2,205/MT in the first half of this year, up 11.1% on the year-on-year basis. ABC price was RMB700 ~ 750/MT in June, up 13.6% on the year-on-year basis. AS and ammonium chloride price shot up more than 30% on the year-on-year basis.

Phosphorus and potassium price went steady. The producer’s prices of DAP (64%), MAP (55%), SOP-NPK (45%) and MOP-NPK (45%) were RMB3,327/MT, RMB2,740/MT, RMB2,799/MT and RMB2,602/MT respectively in the first half of this year on average, up 1.6%, 0.1%, 4.4% and 5.9% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

The producer’s prices of MOP (60%), powder SOP (50%) and granulated SOP (50%) were RMB3,099/MT, RMB3,400/MT and RMB3,297/MT respectively on average, up 7%, 0.8% and 2% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

Considering the fertilizer market surplus and the decline of coal and petroleum price, fertilizer price is predicted to drop moderately in the next few months.
