Ministry of Land Resources plans to turn 26.667 million hectare farmland into high-quality fields

The Ministry of Land Resources plans to turn 26.667 million hectares of farmland into high-quality fields with irrigation facilities by 2015. The ministry hopes to attain a grain yield of 1,500 kg/hectare by 2015. Specifically, Henan, Liaoning, Guangxi and Chongqing are to convert 2.333 million hectares, 751,000 hectares, 891,000 hectares and 347,000 hectares into high quality farmland respectively.
