China imported 3,217,371 cubic meters log in July

In July, China imported 3,217,371 cubic meters of log, down 11.64% than same period last year. The volume of log imported from Russia accounted for 31.18% of all log imports, and the volume imported from New Zealand accounted for 20.34% of all log imports.

The average price of import log in Jul was 187.61 US$/m³, 11.49% lower than same period last year.

1. Imports of Coniferous Logs: In Jul, China imported 442,677 cubic meters of Korean pine and Mongolian scotch pine log, 405,698 cubic meters of white pine log, 795,207 cubic meters of radial pine log, 238,791 cubic meters of larch log, and 465,740 cubic meters of other needle leaved wood log.

2. Imports of Tropical Logs: Import of tropical wood log falls into three categories, including import of red meranti log, import of teakwood log and import of other tropical wood log. In Jul, China imported 3,832 cubic meters of red meranti log, which was mainly imported from Malaysia. Import volume of teakwood was 13,573 cubic meters. Import volume of okoume was 46,701 cubic meters. Import volume of keruing was 2,118 cubic meters. Import volume of kapur was 2,051 cubic meters. Import volume of mengaris (intsia spp.) was 10,903 cubic meters. Import volume of kempas (koompassia spp.) was 7,059 cubic meters. Import volume of mengaris (anisopter spp.) was 4,758 cubic meters.Import volume of other tropical woods was 64,307 cubic meters.

3. Imports of Non-Coniferous Logs: Log import of none-needle-leaved woods falls into the following categories: oak log, beech wood log, nanmu log, camphor tree log, redwood log, ash log, cherry, black walnut & maple log , other temperate zone none-coniferous log and log of other none-needle-leaved woods. In Jul, China imported 38,070 cubic meters of oak log, 39,056 cubic meters of beech wood log, 0 cubic meters of nanmu log, 0 cubic meters of camphor wood log, 62,205 cubic meters of redwood log, 20,897 cubic meters of ash log, 8,205 cubic meters of North American hardwood and 82,129 cubic meters of other temperate zone none-coniferous log. Import volume of other none-needle-leaved woods was 455,613 cubic meters.
