Dairy Production Increased 3.9% Year on Year

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, during the first eight months of 2012, the total dairy production recorded 15.690 million tons, up 3.9% year on year, of which liquid milk 13.222 million tons, up 2.62% year on year; solid dairy 174.5 million tons, up 12.65% year on year, of which powder 893,000 tons, up by 6.95% year on year. In August, the production of liquid milk was1.819 million tons, solid dairy products 310,000 tons and milk powder 105,000 tons, among which, the production of liquid milk declined year on year to some extent, while the year on year growth of solid dairy products and milk powder continued to slow down. According to BOABC, Dairy products quality security incidents came to light one after the other in July and August, which hit residents’ confidence on domestic dairy products, at the same time, increasing dairy products prices impacted the consumption and led the production of domestic dairy products sliding.
