Grain Consumption & Inventory in September

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2012-11-02 10:56:24China Agriculture Report Print Grain consumption is estimated to increase this year over last year taking into account of grain harvest, flour and rice production, grain consumption for feed production and grain consumption for industrial uses.

    Grain consumption for industrial uses was estimated to be 5.97 million MT in September and 49.256 million MT in January ~ September, up 0.6% and 0.62% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Starch production was subdued by rising corn price and tight corn supply. 2.38 million MT grains were consumed for 1.59 million MT starch production in September.
 
    Corn, starch and ethanol prices recorded RMB2,483/MT, RMB3,116/MT and RMB6,465/MT respectively in September, up 0.3%, 1.5% and 0.7% respectively over the month before, up 1.24%, up 0.26% but down 8.38% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Adjusting for currency value change, corn, starch and ethanol prices dropped 2.44%, 1.24% and 2.03% respectively in September from the month before. Their prices were up 5.82%, up 4.84% but down 3.8% respectively in January ~ September on the year-on-year basis, adjusting for currency value change.
