Korea Would Encounter Cabbage and Radish Supply Crisis

    Korea Ministry of Agriculture and Forest pointed that due to plant area decrease of cabbage and radish, output of cabbage and radish in Korea declined 77,000 ton and 114,000 ton in 2012, by 5.4% and 19.9% respectively, and down by 28.9% and 35.9% respectively compared with the numbers of last year, which were 1,897,000 ton and 716,000 ton. The Ministry estimated that supply gaps of cabbage and radish will be 55,000 ton and 86,000 ton by November.

Iran Will Become the Ninth Large World Fruit Producer

    According to statistics of Iran Agriculture Department, fruit output of Iran was about 20 million ton, the largest fruit producer in Middle East, ranking ninth in globe. Iran fruits are exported to 100 countries with annual revenue 2.87 billion US Dollar, mainly export citrus, apple, grape and peach to Iraq and United Arab Emirates.

Sale of Frozen Fruits and Vegetables Grew by 30% in Russia

    From 2007 to 2011, domestic sale of frozen fruits and vegetables in Russia grew by 30% to 319,000 ton from 246,000 ton. Beside potatoes, vegetables and mushrooms are largely demanded in Russia. Among the gross sale of frozen fruits and vegetables, sale of vegetables and mushrooms accounted for 54%-57% during period of 2009-2011, and sale of potatoes accounted for 26%. It is estimated that the annual average increase of the sale of frozen fruits and vegetables in Russia may be 8%, and grow to 488,000 ton in 2016.
