2. According to statistics from Agricultural and Rural Development Ministry of Vietnam, details for Vietnam wood and wooden products export are as follows: export volume on October was USD418 million and cumulative export volume in the first 10 months was USD3.8 billion, up 19.3% compared with last year. Though export to the EU decreased remarkably, exports to America (28.76%), china (7.2%) and Japan (19.73%) still kept increasing.
3. We have learned from Environmental Protection and Forestry Ministry of Burma that Burma will begin to stop log exporting on April 1st 2014. According to development project that is being drawn up, log export shall be fully stopped in the beginning of 2014-2015 fiscal year and wood shall not be exported until being processed and value improved. In addition, cutting volume of teak and hardwood shall be reduced by 15% and 20% respectively from 2012 to 2016 and cutting volume of teak and hardwood from Pegu Mountains shall be reduced by 75% and 22% respectively. According to statistics, it was approved that 3,710,000 MT teak and 1.7894 million MT hardwood be cut on 2011-2012 fiscal year.
4. Agreement of Voluntary Cooperative Partner on Woods Governance (Apv-Fleg) signed by Cameroon and EU is expected to be implemented in 2013. According to the agreement, woods and wooden products exported to EU from Cameroon must be certificated by “Certificate of Legal Woods” issued by Cameroonian government. the agreement above aims at fighting against illegal cutting behavior, enhancing forestry management, promoting sustainable development of forest resources and gaining competitiveness of wooden products in the international market.
5. Indonesia Furniture and Handcraft Association announced that Indonesia furniture export to China shall reach US$100million in 2013 with increasing demand of Chinese market. Anba, president of the association, said that Indonesian furniture was popular among Chinese customers because of its high quality and low price and outlook of Chinese furniture market will be promising. Indonesian furniture export volume to China will reach US$40million in 2012 and is expected to double in 2013. Anba also said that Indonesia will turn to Chinese market with the demand of European and America market decreasing and the association will assist furniture industries in enlarging Chinese market, whose main targets are Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. To ensure sufficient supply of products, Indonesian furniture manufacturers will set warehouses in China.
