Russia: Beet Sugar Production to Rise to 4.3 Million Tons in 13/14

IKAR, the Russian Agricultural Research Institute informed beet sugar production in Russia in 2013/14 shall be 4.3 million tons, more than the previous forecast of 4 million tons, but still less than the 4.75 million tons in last year, thanks to the dry weather conditions in October and November.Data from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture indicates the country had harvested 38.6 million tons beets till 3rd December, 900,000 hectares or 98% of the total, however beet production was less than the 42.2 million tons in same period last year. Russia had harvested 1.1 million hectares of beets in same period last year.
