Recently an FAO/WHO pesticide standard-establishment training workshop was held by the Chinese Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals of Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) in Haikou, aiming to help Chinese agro-enterprises to understand the importance of international pesticide standard application and establishment.

Chinese pesticide exporters have become a well-recognized business force in the world pesticide market, which however falls rather behind in respect of its participation in international pesticide standard-establishment. FAO/WHO pesticide standard is a generally applicable standard in the international trade activities, and FAO/WHO pesticide standard application and participation in its establishment not only enables Chinese enterprises to get the access to the international market but also allows enterprises to participate in international pesticide registration more effectively while promoting China’s influence in the world pesticide industry.

At present the picloram and hexazinone of Nutriechem, as well as the long residual effect mosquito net of Tianjin Yongkuo International Trading Ltd have passed FAO/WHO’s JMPS appraisal, with product standards being respectively published on FAO and WHO websites.

Jiangsu Rotam Chemistry Ltd has submitted standard-application for their 3 products -- bifenthrin, deltamethrin and nicosulfuron.
