TreeHouse Foods Acquires AMPI Cheese and Pudding Business

China Agriculture Report By CnAgriChina Agriculture Report Print

TreeHouse Foods has completed the acquisition of the aseptic cheese and pudding business from Associated Milk Producers (AMPI), a dairy cooperative based in New Ulm, Minn.

AMPI's aseptic cheese and pudding sells products to foodservice and retail customers. The business will be integrated with TreeHouse Foods, which also produces cheese and pudding products primarily for its Food Away From Home segment.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

This acquisition comes after TreeHouse Foods completed the acquisition of Naturally Fresh, a U.S.-based producer of refrigerated dressings, sauces, marinades, dips and specialty items, in a $25m deal.

TreeHouse Foods chairman, president and chief executive officer Sam K. Reed said that the acquisition will strengthen the company's position as a market leader in these product categories and will expand its relationships with strategic customers.

"Together with the acquisition of Naturally Fresh, we have added approximately $100 million of annualized sales in 2012 with products that greatly complement our existing portfolio," Reed added.

TreeHouse, based in Illinois, is a food manufacturer servicing primarily the retail grocery and foodservice channels.
