The average price of hog was 18.29 yuan/kg nationwide, increasing by 10.28% month on month and increasing by 46.79% year on year. Piglet prices were 41.84 yuan/kg, increasing by 6.86% month on month and increasing by 73.27% year on year. Wholesale prices were 25.84 yuan/kg, increasing by 18.33% month on month and increasing by 49.49% year on year respectively.
The prices of compound feed for fattening pigs were 3.02 yuan/kg, increasing by 0.42% month on month, increasing by 0.75% year on year respectively.

In July, the national average weight of hogs for selling was 120.29kg/head, decreasing by 0.48% from the previous month and increasing by 4.38% year on year.
By region: the average weight of hogs for slaughtering was about 130kg/head in the Northeast, the highest level in China, while that in Hubei and Sichuan was around 100kg/head, the lowest level. As pig prices were high in the Northeast and North China, most farmers were reluctant to sell hogs and delayed the time of marketing hogs, resulting in a higher weight. In Sichuan, Guizhou, Fujian, Hunan, and Hubei, the disease is ongoing, farms mostly sold hogs in large quantity ahead of schedule, so the weight of hogs for slaughtering decreased from the previous month.
It’s predicted that the national average weight of hogs for slaughtering will increase somewhat in August. At present, the dumping of hogs is close to the end in Anhui, Sichuan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, and Fujian, and the selling of hogs with low body weight is decreasing. It’s estimated that the weight of hogs for slaughtering will rise to some extent in above areas in August. Due to high pig prices, the weight of hogs for slaughtering will remain high in the Northeast and North China in August.
