From September 2018 to April 2019, the monthly index of raw milk production (based on monitoring on licensed milk collection stations) sustained up ramp for eight consecutive months. The index in April hit 109.33, the highest level in recent five years.
Since May the index continued the downward slope due to heat stress and other factors. It was 104.5 in August, down 0.2% MoM; however the index in August was 6.9% higher YoY.
The index during the first eight months of 2019 was 5.4% higher YoY, meaning MOA monitored raw milk production up 5.4% YoY.
Compared with other years, the slip of raw milk production in the summer of this year was minor and BOABC attributes this to the following factors, (1) Farms better handled the heat stress which caused less impact on milk yield. (2) Farms tried hard to guarantee milk production thanks to the high price level.
