Analysis on Flour Production and Consumption in June in China

Flour production by medium and large mills registered 11.034 million MT in June. Deducting repetitive statistics, flour production was about 6.344 million MT in June. Flour production totaled 33.746 million MT in January ~ June, a drop of 1.84% on the year-on-year basis.

Flour supply was 6.816 million MT in June and 34.53 million MT in the year, down 6.22% and 1.71% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

Flour consumption was 6.288 million MT in June, down 6.12% on the year-on-year basis.

Flour consumption for food use was 5.876 million MT in June, including 2.884 million MT consumed by households, 1.7 million MT by the catering industry and 1.291 million MT by the food industry, down 6.87%, down 6.87%, down 11.78% but up 0.48% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Flour consumption was squeezed by livestock consumption.

353,000 MT flour was consumed for feed production, up 6.09% on the year-on-year basis. 35,000 MT flour was consumed for industrial uses.

Of the flour consumption in June, 36.35% were consumed by rural households, 27.05% by the catering industry, 20.55% by the food industry and 9.55% by urban households.

Flour inventory was 533,000 MT at the end of June and flour sale/production ratio was 99.06% in June.

Flour consumption is predicted to be 79.743 million MT in 2012, including 74.12 million MT for food use and 4.936 million MT for feed production, up 2.06%, 0.51% and 32% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
