The “Circular on Further Enhancing Support, Sound Work in Subsidizing Agricultural Insurance Premium”, which was issued by the Ministry of Finance not long ago, for the first time includes canes into the Agricultural Insurance Premium Subsidy Range of the Central Finance.

The team of “Research on Cane Growing Insurance in Guangxi” suggested the Government promulgate special support policy for cane insurance as soon as possible on the basis of the current development status and impacts from cane growing industry in Guangxi, the survey on cane growing insurance experiment and existing problems in Guangxi, international experiences in insuring cane growing, the choice of cane growing insurance modes in Guangxi and optimization of cane growing insurance in Guangxi. The team suggested the adoption of local legislation, setting up of the mechanism of “government/individual risk sharing” and adoption of the mode of “government promotion, financial subsidy, voluntary cane growers, participation of sugar plants and corporation operation” so as to guarantee sustainable development of the cane growing industry in Guangxi.
