Textile Industry’s Cotton Consumption in July in China

China’s productions of pure cotton yarn, mixed yarn and chemical fiber registered 2.024 million MT, 294,000 MT and 411,000 MT respectively in July, up 10.7%, 20.5% and 9.9% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

Pure cotton yarn production totaled 13.501 million MT in January ~ July, mixed yarn 1.9 million MT and chemical fiber 2.579 million MT, up 12.4%, 24.7% and 8.5% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

The promulgated figures showed that pure cotton yarn, mixed yarn and chemical fiber productions increased 12.3%, 10.9% and 19.1% respectively in July and 12.4%, 13.8% and 15.2% respectively in January ~ July, both on the year-on-year basis.

The cotton ratio in the mixed yarn was estimated to be 77.4% in July and 78.03% in January ~ July, down 0.4% and 0.1% respectively on the year-on-year basis.

Calculating by yarn production and cotton ratio in the mixed yarn, the textile industry consumed about 2.112 million MT cotton in July. Taking into account of 3% waste and 20% reclaimed fiber in cotton supply, the textile industry’s cotton consumption was about 1.74 million MT in July and 11.62 million MT in January ~ July, up 11.5% and 11.5% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
