Growth of Dairy Production Slowed down in June 2012 in China

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics Bureau indicates there were 639 scaled dairy processing companies during the first five months of 2012, the actual sales revenue recorded 115.415 billion yuan, up 14.61% year on year, 1.21 percentage point lower than the year on year growth of the first five months. The sales cost was 87.892 billion yuan, up 13.35% year on year, 0.63 percentage point lower than the year on year growth of the first five months. The sales expenditure was 15.461 billion yuan, up 16.96% year on year, up 0.68 percentage point than the year on year growth of the first five months. The total profit was 7.062 billion yuan, up 28.17% year on year, and this rate was 6.98 percentage point less than the year on year growth of the first five months. The gross margin was 23.85%, down by 0.21 percentage point as compared with the year on year growth of the first five months. BOABC attributes the decline of profit of the industry in the first six months of 2012 to the rising sales cost and rising sales expenditure, dwindling of the growth rate of the total profit of the industry and the decline of the gross margin.
