SSP State Criteria to Be Revised in China

China Agriculture Report By CnAgri2012-09-07 13:17:53China Agriculture Report Print

The State Fertilizer Quality Supervision & Testing Center plans to revise state criteria of SSP and put them into effect next year.

The backdrop of the revision is the extensive use of calcium hydrophosphate in place of SSP. The former has a high phosphorus content of 16% but enjoys a low production cost. However, its phosphorus is non-water-dissolvable, only fit for acid soil. Whereas, more than 70% of phosphorus in SSP is water-dissolvable, conducive to the improvement of saline-alkali soil.

The state criteria of calcium superphosphate currently in effect contain requirement for phosphorus content but have no specifications of the kinds of phosphorus. The new criteria aim to set specific requirements for water-dissolving phosphorus in SSP to facilitate market supervision.
